In a major political shift Delhi’s Delhi CM Rekha Gupta newly inaugurated Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has charged the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration
with draining the state’s financial resources resulting in an empty public treasury. Amidst these economic
hurdles she has reiterated her dedication to fulfilling the Bhartiya Janata
Party’s (BJP) campaign promise of offering ₹2,500 monthly support to women in the capital.
During a press briefing on February 23, 2025, at the state party headquarters Gupta
elaborated on the fiscal challenges bequeathed by the prior administration.
She remarked that upon examining the governmental financial situation with officials
it became clear that the treasury had been depleted.
The state left behind by the former government upon convening with officials to assess
the financial condition of our current administration we discovered that the government coffers are bare she stated.

Yojna which will provide eligible women in Delhi with ₹2,500 each month will be executed

of its citizens. He pointed out the rapid endorsement of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance initiative during their first cabinet session a scheme that had been previously hindered by the AAP administration.
The financial assistance program is part of a larger blueprint by the BJP to improve social welfare in Delhi. Other commitments include ₹21,000 support for expectant mothers a ₹500
discount on gas cylinders with an extra complimentary cylinder during Holi and Diwali, alongside the rollout of the Atal Canteen Scheme which provides meals for merely ₹5. These initiatives are designed to deliver direct aid to women and economically disadvantaged
communities promoting financial autonomy and security.
Gupta’s political path mirrors her enduring dedication to community service and the welfare of women. Beginning her journey as a student leader at Delhi University in 1992, she has occupied various roles within the BJP, concentrating on programs for women and children.
Her rise to the Chief Minister’s position makes her the fourth woman to achieve this role in Delhi highlighting the BJP’s trust in her capabilities.
